Angelo Mastrio: Got his “MBA” in Medical Sale from Experience

Won Presidents Club, the #1 rep 3 years in a row, and has 12 years of incremental revenue growth. He has been in the sales industry for just over 18 years and specifically in medical sales for 16 years. Some of his career highlights include:

-Top 5 of Sales Reps in the Western Region at Cintas where he also earned Rookie of the Year and President’s Club

-Having no previous medical experience, he broke into the med device industry with Stryker

-After that he decided to cut his teeth in the distributor world. He was the #1 Vegas Sales Rep at Access Orthopedics in 2008, 2009, and 2010 and incrementally grew his territory by 20% in 2009 and 25% in 2010 

-Angelo also began his own distributorship in 2007 where he: Grew his sales from $590,000 in 2007 to $3.5 million in 2019 – 12 straight years of incremental growth

It doesn’t stop there – Angelo was a full line territory manager for both Men’s and Women’s Health at Boston Scientific. Angelo won President’s Club in 2012 and continued to move up the ranks being promoted 2 times. While in these roles Angelo was involved in many additional internal roles such as being a field sales trainer, a regional team leader, sat on the sales leadership council, was part of the peer mentor program all while consistently meeting and exceeding quota throughout this time. 

Currently, Angelo is the Director of Sales and Distribution at Contura.  He shares with us his journey into this incredible field, his recommendations for taking a 1099 vs. W2 position when you are first starting out in Medical Sales, and the importance of learning about each and every aspect of the business.
